My name is Will Muoio. I am a journalist graduating from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in May 2018. I will receive a dual degree in Newspaper and Online Journalism and Political Science. I'm looking forward to continuing my career in journalism in the U.S. or abroad once I graduate.
I have been writing since I was 12 years old, when I made my debut in my middle school’s newspaper as a film critic. Since then, I have held three internships and multiple positions with campus publications.
I worked for Thomson Reuters’ financial magazine, International Financing Review, after my freshman year compiling data for clients and writing stories on deals and acquisitions in the American market. Following my sophomore year, I interned with Progetto Firenze, an Italian non-profit organization, as a liaison with English-speaking media. This past summer, I interned with Advance Media New York, which publishes Syracuse Post-Standard, Syracuse.com and NYup.com. There, I wrote over 30 feature stories over the course of eight weeks and attended the Advance Media internship summit at One World Trade Center.
At Syracuse, I am the Lead Sports Producer for The NewsHouse, a multimedia website focused on Syracuse University and city news and a reporter on the Student News Team for Newhouse. Previously, I covered student government at The Daily Orange.
I was nominated for the 2017 Associated College Press Multimedia Sports Story of the Year for my multimedia story on Devon Parker, a Syracuse women's lacrosse player. When on staff for The Daily Orange, The Newshouse and The Standard, my high school paper, we were awarded National Scholastic Press Association Pacemaker awards.
